Is the only thing that changed in 83-84 is the final gear ratio? Is any year of tranny stronger?

With the 3.73 vs 4.10 gear ratio of the older vs newer tercel's, what does each rev on the highway (approx 60mph)

With an '83 6-speed I get an indicated 65 MPH at 3K in 5th.

The changes to the tranny were in the shift forks and the linkage, which doesn't affect the strength. The gear ratios changed but the design of the shafts and gears really didn't. The 85 also added a switch for the extra low gear with an indicator light on the dash.

Oh, i dont own one yet, so please let me know...

is the super low 1st gear only avail in 4x4? So if you had an 85 SR5 the gear indicator would light up as would the 4x4 light in the inclinometer.

So after 86 when the inclinometer was no longer available, then just the super low light went on when you went into first gear.

Will an 85 Rev about 3500rpm at 65mp/h then?

A 83-84 develops exactly 34.4Kph per 1000rpm with 175/70-13.
That means 2800rpm at 60mph
Tacho and speedometer are both wrong.

According to needles, it's about 37 So about 4500rpm at 104mph.

[I've already driven it at 5200rpm on 6th (downhill)... calculate !]

7.77 in 2nd
13.76 in 3rd
20.69 in 4th
