83 Tercel fuel sock?
Hello and thanks in advance for any help.
83 Tercel SR5 4WD Wagon been sitting in yard for a few years...
Decided to get it going again.
Will run off of prime then dies.
After blowing hoses to fuel filter and pump, it appears the hose from the tank to the filter is plugged.
Is there a fuel sock?
Any pics of the fuel tank for an 83 tercel?
Wondering if there is an access panel or if whole tank needs to be dropped?
Thanks again.
Replace fuel sock

Re: Replace fuel sock
There is an access panel in the body pan but, if memory serves, it is only for access to the sending unit.
I replaced the three hoses back there long ago and they require the patience of Job, the long and strong fingers of Plasticman*, and a new vocabulary.
Seriously, it is quite doable, but just a PITA. Once you get the hoses off, again blow all three of the steel lines from the front to the back with REAL compressed air - several times. Also blow into the tank. There is no sock.

Also - change the filter and the lines at the front to the filter and both to/from the pump - no point in taking a chance.
It probs still occur - remove the tank and have it "boiled out."
For pix of the tank and other stuff, go to the new EPC thread in the New and AM Parts Forum here, enter the info and look at all exploded drawings - great stuff there. Don't forget the FSM, available for free download here, and also accesible at the top of each page.
