Careful, Pearson - you are messin' with the Carib Crown Prince..."OMG - the latter is wrong!"
Upon perusing your link - the silver bumpers look a lot better than I would have thought.
Now, that is a serious chain in the last photo!

That's one way to make sure your car stays where you put it.

Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.

yes and if you continue seeing the pictures on the gallery you can notice i use another chain in the shifter, that stops the displament of it and makes it imposible to use another gear than reverse while it been used ( the chain ).takza wrote:That's one way to make sure your car stays where you put it.
Now i can be more relax while im separed from my TOYOTA

Sorry - I just noticed your March puzzlement over my comment about the "Carib Crown Prince;" it was a sarcastic comment about another member who is quite a student of the "Carib" badge...
Also - I just noticed from one of your other photos - your car has a switch on the floor console to engage 4WD, unlike ours, which have another lever..

ok i get it.
about the switch it works with a vacuum sistem that actuates over the 4wd sistem. yes i like that sistem cause i think is easier, i´ve a questions when you turn on 4wd to disengage it you have to use reverse? because its the way i use to do it.

Not usually - but sometimes depending on the phase of the moon or the tides or ?, some have had to do this.Pearson wrote:i´ve a questions when you turn on 4wd to disengage it you have to use reverse? because its the way i use to do it.
Our FSM for North America does not cover the vacuum method of actuating 4WD; I don't think anyone has ever mentioned this before.

Curious, looking at the interior pics, it appears the heater control panel is not only a bit different, it also is a mirror image of ours. The A/C button, the fan, selector and heat controls are on opposite side from the North American panel. Perhaps this was done because these cars are driven in the southern hemisphere, where everything is upside down.
I love that steering wheel, is that stock? Why couldn't we get that kind of steering wheel here?
I thought usually the push button 4wd selector was done with electric solenoid, that is how it is done on the newer All-trac, and on our MPV 4x4. Also the Honda Civic wagovan 4x4 uses solenoid engagement. These have proven to be reliable but I prefer a simple and reliable lever, nothing to malfunction.

Re: Peru , toyota carib 87
I believe Pearson said the car was originally from Japan and switched to LHD, so perhaps that is the reason for the mirror images you mention - and maybe the JDM cars got the vacuum 4WD switching and we in the wild and wooly rest of the world got the lever system.
Boy, that sounds like a major change of the whole dash, as well as the controls - not like the (relatively) easy swap that BritMobiles did back in the old days!

Yes the control are the same but un a mirror view, about the wheel is stock i also like it thats why i have not changed.Petros wrote:Curious, looking at the interior pics, it appears the heater control panel is not only a bit different, it also is a mirror image of ours. In one of the pictures im uploding i think number 1036 you can see that kind of can that is upside the brake master thats the vaccum i was talking about thats coneccted to the gearbox by 2 hoses.
Another curious thing is that the brake master is place in passenger side and is connected through a metal bar that goes to the driver side so you can aply brakes again thats because in japan they drive oposite side.
Another one in picture 1041 you can see the hydraulic clutch, it was a mechanical one i mean it used cable to action it but i changed it for a hydraulic one.
3 months ago i did a general overhaul of the motor i apologize because i have no pictures of the process but i was flying by that time os i couldnt be in the repair shop. ( im a pilot )
Also in th pictures you can see my 70% tinted windows i did it last week also painted the border of the windows to give it a special look.
Also i painted my rims ok ok some might say its ricer but i think it looks nice and cost very cheap like 5 bucks to do it so its ok.

Does it look nice i mean the colors i acept advices.
And again i feel excited about talking our cars.
