Think they are a metric size...I just bought the closest SAE size and used some small nylon cable ties on the ends if they were even slightly loose.

IF IN DOUBT...put a cable tie on it? Might also check the base of your TVSV...they can crack and are then a vac leak...use epoxy putty on the base?

The Weber might be a good improvement, but you really need to diagnose the problem first, or you might go to all the cost and trouble and find out it is not the carb that caused the problem.

If you narrow it down to the carb, than by all means upgrade to the Weber. But most practicing mechanics today have never worked on a carb, nor are familar with that mass of black spagetti that is part of the emission control system, so it would be easy for a mechnic to assume there is something wrong with the carb and the problem will go away with a different carb.

It might also be as simple as carefully removing the top of the carb, cleaning out the old gunk with some carb spary, and putting it back together. Hardly takes any time or cost. There is a fairly easy way to isolate a vac leak using carb spray on the tubes and hoses while it is running, so make sure what the problem is before you try to "fix" it with another carb.

Good luck.

I've been running the same OEM carb for 60K miles...thru 2 yrs or so of carb heat and various fuel additives....a bit of water into the bowl on 2 occasions when I got sloppy with the carbon cleaning...these carbs DON'T like water.

Way back when...I replaced almost all the tubing...and checked carefully the routing....plus redid all accessible electrical connxs. Eventually I even understood the purpose for some of the tubing and it's routing...some is still more or less decorative. You learn to like it.....cause if it's there...it's there for a reason.

my carb has about 275k miles on it, all I did was at about 200k replace the accelerator pump, cleaned it out and it was good. I bought a whole rebuild kit, but after I replaced the accelerator pump and the gasket it ran so good I did not bother with a full rebuild.
