It's a scientific fact that in a twin engine aircraft, when one engine fails there is always enough power in the remaining engine to make it all the way to the crash site.

Dang - y'all beat me to it!
And here I spent the better part of the night trying to get the video from the camera to the computer and then to Photobucket and then to the site.
Oh, well...
Any way - click on the various images of the T4WD in danzo's link, and you will see more photos. I wrote DQ to see if the Wagon was going to be featured in more "Blizzmann Family" adventures across (North) America, but no answer yet.

It IS a 4WD - the filler door is on the right side.
Maybe the emblem was substituted for "Toyota" for at least one of two reasons: No publicity for a car manufacturer - and - no connection with Toyota during the latter's current problems (after all - WHO could possibly recognize the Turkle as a - shudder - Toyota?).

They took all of the emblems off the car, it is an SR5 but these emblems are removed (they even removed the hub caps), and since that is the 4wd grill, it is likely the 4wd model. I am not sure the DX wagon was ever available in SR5 trim that was not a 4x4. It also has these window eyebrows on the side windows and a roof rack. The squealing tires on the chase are an obvious "special effects" for the commercial as well, as any one who has drive one can tell you.

I think they just wanted to find a quirky little car that would reflect on a quirky family, and they chose the Tercel4wd.

It is in excellent condition. I think the red stripe running around it is also not orignal, those came on the honda CRX, but I have never seen one on a Tercel.

I wish I had mentioned the fuel door too. A guy I worked with once told me after knowing me for a few years that my car is the perfect car for me. I took it as a compliment. :D
I was gonna write DQ too, I couldn't believe that they would not only pick a Terc but one in good shape too, I thought there must be some story behind it, whether it's a guy on the crew or something. If it was in crappy condition I could see it just being a random car, but since it looks good it might mean something.

Well - for one thing - it means that the next time I am approached to loan the car for a TV commercial *, the rate goes waaay up!

It was not an accident they used that car. I have known people in the filming business (my uncle is one of them), and they spend A LOT of money getting everything just right in them. They are obsessive about every detail, they likely had a number of cars as candidates, and they had focus groups look at pictures of many options. And they picked the Tercel4wd.

I am not sure if that is something to be proud of or not. We do not know what the instructions were to the focus groups as to "what type of car would a family that is.............would drive?"

Usually they try to pic people that their target market (potential customers) can identify with, and would want to buy similar products that are being advertised. Unless some idiot "creative" director is trying to be clever, but those usually do not get on the air (it cost too much to waste airtime on an ineffective commercial). It the commercial sells the product, it has done its job, trying to be clever or funny is secondary.

that thing's got a pretty dope roof rack, were those stock on any tercels? my parts car came with a really burly rack that the previous owner made for it (it has a 2nd spare tire mount) but it weighs about 50 lbs so i opted for a lightweight one i pulled off a terc at the scrapyard. the one in the commercial is tops though.

There are at least 5 of "The Blizzman Family Home Videos" at the Dairy Queen Facebook site.
Click on the Videos link; they are scattered among the 5 pages. There are a couple with the family inside the T4WD.

I saw a new ad (well, to me, anyway) last night. The family was in the Wagon and Dad was swerving next to the BlizzardMobile with a clown hanging out of a rear side window, jammed in with the kids.
