Brake light question

I'm stumped. It's an 84 sr5. My driver side brake light stopped working. The bulb is fine, the tail light works, and the passenger side brake light works. I checked all the wire connections around the light and they all seem fine. My electrical skills are very limited. I searched previous threads and didn't find one about this problem. Any suggestions on what I can look for would be greatly appreciated.

i had a similar problem on the opposite side. turned out to be the ground wire had corroded and lost connection. make sure the wire that connects to the outer part of the socket (i believe it's white with a black stripe) has a good connection to the bulb. you may just have to clean out the socket. i just fixed mine by cutting the wire and wedging it in so it had a good connection to the base of the bulb.

Nope, thats not it. the taillight filament still works so it is grounded. I pulled it out and cleaned it off anyway just to be sure but still no brake light. I am going to try the round taillight thing above the fuse box next. Thanks anyway.

ok. I got it fixed. The car is set up to be towed (@petros...I took that massive weight off the front by the way) and has wiring added to connect the car lights up to the trailer connection of the towing vehicle. Wires were loose.
