Everyone who reads this, please listen- I have one week off coming up and I am looking for a good deal on a Tercel with a clean, straight, rust-free body. I only care about the body, and nothing else. If anyone knows of a deal, anywhere in North America, please let me know. I want to take advantage of this time I have off anyways to go and pick up a car.

I actually want this one, but I'm broke. The owner says it has some rust so it won't help. This one is located near Santa Barbara, CA.

This one here's from San Francisco bay area. Has a trailer, though. :)

This one's in Aurora, Colorado. It has the sun roof.

This one's in good old Phillydelphia  . The owner got gypped off.

<a href='http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/car/51568158.html' target='_blank'>http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/car/51568158.html</a>

This one looks kind of good except for that dent that you can barely see on the picture. Located in Roseville, CA. It's a deluxe though.

<a href='http://sacramento.craigslist.org/car/50263552.html' target='_blank'>http://sacramento.craigslist.org/car/50263552.html</a>

Rust free. Just what you need 3A-C Power. It's an '88 SR5. Located in Salt Lake City, Utah.

<a href='http://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/car/50059047.html' target='_blank'>http://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/car/50059047.html</a>

Looks good. In Olympia, WA. Won't be able to drive it in 5th or reverse though. Low price.

<a href='http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/52036957.html' target='_blank'>http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/52036957.html</a>

An 84. I have no idea how it has an A/T and be SR5. Located in Portland, Oregon.

<a href='http://portland.craigslist.org/car/49645312.html' target='_blank'>http://portland.craigslist.org/car/49645312.html</a>

An 86 with blown differential. Also in Portland, OR area.

<a href='http://portland.craigslist.org/car/50234004.html' target='_blank'>http://portland.craigslist.org/car/50234004.html</a>

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Dang! This one's 80 miles away from me (area code 661 means near Palmdale/Lancaster, CA). I do hope when I have some moola (some day) to buy another Tercel besides putting the one I already have to work.

3A-C, I did a search on Auto Trader and found 2 listed as AWD wagons....didnt' search all styles yet. I think the 2 were both Deluxe's. There is also one listed that is only 11miles from me...an '87 with 170K miles on it , but it's listed as a 2wd. I'll try and look at it tomorrow to check it out for you.

Go to http://www.autotrader.com, input the make, search for used, and your zip code, then click on advanced search, enter the parameters you want to use.

Looks like several possibilities posted. Good luck !!
1984 Tercel 4wd Dlx. - 192K miles.
1985 Tercel 4wd SR5 - 185K miles (not running)
1986 Tercel 4wd Dlx - 210K miles (dd)

Only 3 to go for the whole set ! lol

Thanks. I look on autotrader and cars.com but didn't know about the Craig's list. I will check those out. I also found one here in Canada with no rust but they want $3200 for it. Still, it's a rare thing to find.

You would really check the car for me? Can you take pictures? Which one is that on auto trader?

I wrote to everyone from the Craigslist (except for the $1500 and $1300 ones). Thanks Carlos, that was excellent. Some of those look very promising.

I think the one here close to me is going to be a 2wd, but i will check it out to be sure. It's at a little used car lot in the next town close to where I live. I was going to look at it today, but ran out of time, but should be able to sometime tomorrow or tuesday.

Here's some links I found:

This is the one close to me, it says 2WD in the description:

I'm glad to hear it's working out for you. Your very welcome. Just doing the little bit I can to help someone. If I could drive I would of checked out those cars in California, but oh well the day will come.

Hi guys,

First time posting on here. My daily driver is a 1970 Bronco (one of the really old, little ones). Great off road and a blast to drive, but terrible on gas with a V8 and 4 barrel carb.

I grew up driving toyotas... My first car was a 1970 Corona, and my dad had an 81 pickup. Had a 99 camry for a few years as well.

Anyway, I'm sold on the Toyota reliability and ease of maintenance... And something like the 4WD tercel wagon appeals to me because (a) it gets good gas mileage (I'd want a 5 speed), and (b) the 4wd would be nice to take my kids to play in the snow, etc.

I appreciate the previous poster providing links on vehicles that are available - thank you. What I am hoping is that someone will point me towards an purchasing FAQ - what problem areas to look for (both drivetrain and body-wise etc.

Are the drivetrain parts (xfer case, differential, etc.) still readily available? How about carbs?

Anyway, didn't mean to hijack the thread, just wanted to introduce myself, say thank you for the help you've provided already, and look forward to interacting with you all here.

Well I may have one. I'll just have to check with my folks and thouroughly examine the body. It's been sitting for maybe 2 years, but hopefully the rust hasn't screwed with it too much. The only downer is a thrown rod. Rest of the car is in pretty dang good shape.
Again, I'll talk with my folks about possibly selling it.
