Question about parts and junk yards

Post by fuseone »

Does any one know of any junk yards or any one that has parts for a 87 sr5 in PA. Also is there any other heater cores from say just a regualr tercel that would fit the sr5 like are they interchangeable. And where would i be able to find the 6 speed trans for one or does any one know where i can buy a rebuild kit for one? thank you sorry if it put this in the wrong spot.

i pulled a heater core from a Tercel sedan and it was the same as the wagon's.

if you try to buy a new one you may have a hard time finding one just like the original.
lately the aluminum cores have taken over
aluminum cores are the only type i have been able to get since early 2008
they not as thick as the original in the finned (radiator) area
they need to be wrapped with some kind of insulation (i used weatherstripping)
along the sides so they fit snuggly into the heater housing
if this is not done all of the air will not be forced through the finned area
and you will not get the maximum heat output
Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

Check out all Gen II sedans ('83-'86) - wagons were unchanged from '83 through '88. Maybe Gen I as well - dunno about others.
Go to the EPC sticky in our Parts Forum. Then go to the latest EPC link. Then type in our cars and go to the Electrical section and get the part number. Then type in, say, Corolla and Starlet and see if same part number - Then type in truck and so forth. I'd think that Toy used the same core in a number of vehicles for a number of years.
Please post your results.

OT - but I was noticing some posts about block heaters from some TN Tercel posters in Manitoba and Ontario talking about -45C temps - which equal to -49F ! ! ! Most, if not all, of our Upper North American members are in BC - but how cold does it get thereabouts? I know the MN contingent here have some low temps, too, though.
