Cargo Privacy Thing
Where can I find one of those cargo-space covers? Mine is lacking and I want to protect my subs and other valuables from prying eyes <_<

i used to have one, but the best way to protect your trunk without having one is to get the back windows all tinted extremely dark (well the rear window can't be THAT dark cuz u need to see out of it lol) but the side windows you can do limo tint style!
and if you're leaving the car for a long period of time you can get a big blanket or somethin you can keep back there and then throw it over the subs if you're in a bad area. In a tercel the thieves wouldn't think twice about someone puttin subs in there
and your other option would be a security system. Have you checked the junk yard for the cargo cover? I'm not sure that item lasts that long

Where can I find out how dark I can legally tint windows?

Around here you can buy a later model minivan or SUV that has almost limo-tinted windows from the drivers window back...but if you tint your own car that way you'll have trouble.
The undercover fuzzies are partial to the dark tints. What are THEY hiding? I do know they like to sneak around a lot...and sneak up on you. Sort of like hide and seek.....

I would only get black or grey. But whats to guarantee someone isn't going to see thru the back window? I still think it'd be good to have one of those covers, possibly in combo with some tiniting. Keep internal temps down in the hot Colorado summers >.<

Typrus,I have both the tinting and the cover. The only problem I see is that the cover is flimsy so you cant set anything on~it.I would recomend makeing one out of 1/4" plywood and alum L~metal ribing.I used the non~sticky tinting and with practice and lots of water,it worked out pretty well.If you try the "sticky" stuf,I recomend prozac and a third arm

I used that less sticky stuff on the hatch and 2 side windows...ended up with some bubbles in it...but it's still on there an functional for 2 years. Main thing is....don't stretch the plastic film at all....once it has been stretched it won't lay flat...a mess.Thereminator wrote: I used the non~sticky tinting and with practice and lots of water,it worked out pretty well.If you try the "sticky" stuf,I recomend prozac and a third arm!

its easy to tint.
get a spray bottle, fill it with water then put in a half shot of liquid soap, stir it dont shake it.
then take poster board and make a template of the window. then scotch tape the film to a hard smooth object like a glass table. use the template you made out of the poster board and with a new razor blade cut the film (make sure you cut the correct side of the film). spray the squeeky clean window and the film with the soapy water. put the film on the window, you can move it around pretty easy to get it exactly where you want it because of the soap, then take a 3 inch squeegy (sold at auto parts stores for a buck or so at the window film section) and squeegy the film working from top to bottom. dont worry about pinhole size bubbles (and i mean pinhole size nothing bigger) they will disappear by themselves in a day. if you screw up and need to move the film, rip it off, spray both the window and the film again and try again. as long as the glue on the film isnt set you can remove the film pretty easy, dont wait to long though.
call the state trooper office and ask them what the laws are tinting the passenger and back windows. usually you can tint them darker than the front windows.

I have tinted windows myself using non-sticky film (it just clings by static). For all the trouble, the results weren't great though it was better than alot of the tint jobs you see. If I did it again, I would take the windows out. 90% of the difficulty in tinting the windows was getting the edges right without leaving ugly gaps there, or having excess material that doesn't fit. Taking the windows out is some work but it's straightforward. Tinting the windows in the car is as hard but with the added frustration of knowing that every mistake makes it look worse.

Can't wait to tint my rear windows...I think I'm going to pay someone though. It's one of the few things I'd like to have done professionaly.
