The guy who sold us the Tercel said one of the wheel bearings was going out.
How do we figure which it is, and why does the Chilton's not mention wheel bearings?
Wheel bearing trouble?

Jack up the wheels and check for looseness. On the front wheels, feel in between the brake rotor and the caliper as you wiggle the wheel. If there's play and you can feel the rotor moving relative to the caliper, then it's in the bearing. On the rear wheels, check for up and down and in and out play. In either case there will be a noise when it gets bad. Bearings are a pain in the ass to do because they all involve interference fits. You need a hydraulic press to do the front ones.
