Schaeffer's >.<
REDLINE!
AMSOIL!
SCHAEFFER'S!!!

lol...

ROYAL PURPLE!!!

WAL-MART SUPER-TECH!!!
^.......... o.O

lol... Actually, my tranny has been fine the past year or two with Super-Tech in it. 75-90 I think. And I'm not exactly friendly to it.
I'll be doing Schaeffer's soon.

Call 1-800-325-9962 to get ahold of an operator who can help you locate any sales reps in your area.

But really, I think that Schaeffer's is probably a pretty good bet. The high-stressed trannies can use the Moly.

I think it's most important to just drain and refill every 15K miles...whether it needs it or not.

This was 3ACPowers (previous member) opinion long ago...and I've come to see he was right about it.

This makes sure the level stays up and gets the "fines" out of the oil.

I'm using regular 80W90 with some moly additive. Militec should help too.

I used Redline 75-90NS, shifting was slightly improved.

it actually shifted when i had ATF in the transmission for a day to clean it all out and suspend the old metal particles before i put $55 worth of oil in there.

but honestly, torque is what will kill this transmission, even 500HP won't do it. so the real question should be "how much torque can this transmission handle?"

100 ft/lb.
Thats what they tested for.
Next question- How much smooth torque can it handle? I'm sure the tranny could take 300ft/lb with good lube if you didn't jar the system at all. Nice mega-smooth engagements and all that good stuff. Drop it and you're through.

you think if you droped it off road with like 150- 200 it would blow her up, would the slipage of the tires save the tranny?

If you were on gravel or loose media, I think it'd hurt, but not blow. If you were on tighter media, you might have problems.

4wd might make it go. It all depends.

While I personally dislike the idea of the "sacrificial clutch" it might work. The bigger deal is whether the stock clutch would hold that power PERIOD or if it would just slip like crazy, drop or no. So then one must ask whats next? SPEC stage 2? Or will that be tight enough to hurt the tranny?

So another thought comes to mind. The 4.10 Tercs might be "stronger" than the 3.737. Why? The tranny has to absorb less torque and shock before the wheels will spin due to gearing and mechanical advantage. Traction will break before tranny potentially.
Next thought- if you bump power up like that, you might do best to hang on to 175 or 185 width tires. Why? They break traction easier, again allowing the tranny to take less shock.

Whether that theory is right or not I'm not sure, but it makes sense to me.

Also, go with tires that are not much taller. Again, the issue of traction comes in. Also gearing. A bigger tire effectively is harder to spin than a smaller one. Thus, moe torque being absorbed in the driveline. I know that it might not seem ideal to have 185/80R14's or whathaveyou if you could fit 205/75R14's, but again, its that torque issue.
