400,000 Km

Post by dcn »

The Sled just rolled over 400,000 the other day, I was coming off a back-shift at work trying to get home before it rolled over so I could take pics with my good camera but I didn't make it. Look how close it was:

I gave it a congratulatory wash that day after I got up, even though it was cloudy. Managed to catch a reflection shot of a car passing too.

A pic of myself, it's cloudy out and the car needs a clay/wax, otherwise it'd be clearer.

Wheel: I love the new Mother's PowerBall, I don't think I had used it on them yet when this was taken.

And finally a shot of Dad's Tercel. It looks grey but is light blue. I was cleaning the inside of mine, for anyone that is able to, I REALLY recommend using an air hose to blow stuff out of your car before you vaccuum. I got a LOT of crap out of my car that the vaccuum wouldn't have been able to get to, like in the seat hinges for example.

Heh heh, glad you caught that one! I had 297,000 when I bought it, never caught 300k on film.

Here's one more shot, if that doesn't inspire ya, I'm outta ideas!

Here's Dad's Celica. Original paint btw. We were at a car hangout tonight, there was a first-generation Viper there, and a G35 that had 'TWINT G' as the plate which was pretty cool. That thing would haul if it's really got a Turbo..

You and your dad have a nice collection. I love old Toyotas. :D

Now just add a Starlet, MR2, 2000GT, etc. :D

Thanks Gasolinefumes, I should also thank you for all the laughs your site gave us when we first found it 2 or 3 years ago. In fact I saw a light grey Tercel at the awesomely stocked junkyard yesterday and said 'It's Hornbeam!' to my father. Your 'Cars That I Have Driven ' section is great! 'Slightly Awful' is one of the best phrases on the 'net!

Thanks guys. The wheels are off of a Supra though, the original wheels are put away somewhere since he didn't like them, they had like a chrome ring or centre cap or somethng that he thought was pretty ugly.

It's funny cause I spent pretty much the whole day with my Dad yesterday and we talked about cars (of course) I was saying to him that it's wierd that someone who grew up with Challengers and Chargers and all that V8 stuff would suddenly get into Toyotas but he said when he bought his '71 Celica (there's a blue '70 in Gran Turismo 4 that looks identical to what it did, right down to the dorky mirrors..) he just bought it cause he liked the look of it. Someone pulled out in front of him and it got wrote off so he got his '76. If it hadn't been for that neither of us may have ever owned a Toyota. I might be on some other forum preching how good Malibu Maxx is or something. Well maybe not quite, but it's funny how things work out.

A few people came up and were talking to him about the car last night while we were parked and they actualy knew it was a Celica, asked about the 20R motor, all that stuff. Most think it is a Mustang or some thing, it was neat to meet Yota fans.

Here'a few more pics of some stuff that stood out a bit, some good some good (like the Cobra Mustang), some (like the Eclipse) bad. If that black G25 rally has a twin turbo it must haul..

I work with this guy,

Viper, hate the noise, love the power.

The paint on this Nova was nuts.

Cobra Mustang, I like it.

Dunno how this looks in a photo but it wasw a neat job.

Great pics! And love your terc (as I think I've mentioned before when you last posted pics of it). I'm about 400kms away from 400,000kms; I hope to catch a pic as it rolls over too.

HTanks guys, yup, those are flames on the truck. In person from what I could tell they did a really good job on them. They're almost 3D.

Don't miss your car at 400,000 or you'll have to wait a while before seeing 500,000. I wish I had caught a shot of mine turning 300,000 but I didn't know I'd grow to love it so much.
