Ok, I'll be the numpty that asks :

What's the difference between the 5 speed (6 with EL) and an SR5 then? :?:

I didn't realise Toyota MADE a 5 speed without it being SR5 in those days....

Both non SR5 and SR5 came in automatic or manual (6speed). SR5 was just the sport/luxury edition. It came with better interior, better guage cluster, better seats, etc.

OhBoy-OhBoy.
To quote from my just-received (USA) '86 Brochure re 4WDs:
SR5 - only 6-speed and Deluxe - 6-speed or 3-speed auto (w/o o'drive).
FWD Wagon was 5-speed or 3-speed auto w/o'drive.
Correcto - or were interim models or country-specific models available?

GTSSportCoupe -
The DLX 4WD could have an automatic - just not the SR5 of at least that year - at least in the USA.

Haha! Ahhhh man, I must be tired today! I meant an SR5 4WD Automatic. And I think I did see one; it was just an 83 or 84. So maybe it was just not an option in 86?

OK, I'll stop posting now until I have a good sleep.

I sent him an info request. If everything holds together, I'll work something out with my folks.
If it sounds good, I'll try to offer $500 for it, see what my folks say.
Of course, the neighbors, "Why the hell do you collect those things?!?"

I think I'd more look at it as a car for my sis, or even my dad. He has to drive a 17mpg truck to work every day... Work is 24 miles away.

Power steering was an option for a number of years (if not all) of our Tercels.
In '86, it was an option (not standard) on all models save the bare-bones 3-door.
My then-new '83 SR5 did not have PS - I cheaped out - no AC either - that was a dumb move...
