1985 Cressida seats into a 1985 tercel?
Can it be done..? My tercel seats are really old and uncomfortable, these Cressida seats from my local Facebook marketplace look really plush

I doubt it unless you weld the seat frame to the Tercel seat track.
Do you have SR5 or DL seats in yours? SR5 seats are pretty comfortable to me. Firm but supportive.

I actually really like the DLX seats in my 83. I couldn't believe how comfortable they are.
Sorry, off topic. Anyway, I don't think any seats from other cars are a direct swap. Some can be made to work but there's always a bunch of f***ing around to do it. Once I had a t4 that someone had (badly) swapped front seats from a Toyota T-100 or something into, and it took a lot of work to make them actually work (I think they wouldn't slide back or forward until I reamed out the mounting holes, because they didn't line up with the t4's mounting points). Here is a post on all of that, if you're interested:

A few other options:
- there are lots of aftermarket cushions or memory foam seat covers you could install over the seat, or
- you can remove the seat, remove the seat fabric, and add padding. This is a bit labour intensive because the hog rings that fasten the fabric to the seats are annoying to remove and put back but if you care about keeping the stock look, it's an option.

Totally agree with David.
Keeping the SR5 seats is the best idea (resale as well) and either get some custom or off the shelf covers? you might have to modify them to work with the sr5 bolsters. Good thing about the SR5 seats is they have a lot of adjustment and long base cushion.
