Window regulator

Post by Connee1979 »

Hi everyone! I just acquired a 1985 sr5 4wd 6 speed:) man, I didn’t realize how difficult it is to find some of the parts for this vehicle😐. Does anyone happen to have a line on a functional window regulator? I am in the Seattle area and would be glad to drive or pay any sort of shipping. Thanks!!

Have you tried car-part.com? It's pretty good for finding nearby wreckers that have what you're looking for.

I've had my 1983 Tercel since 1984. The driver's door regulator (the 'scissors' mechanism) is something that I have to lube every so often in later years because it gets stiff and some people just force them until they break. And for that reason, good secondhand replacements may be scarce. I ended up making access holes in the inner door panel so I can grease the sliding parts of the mechanism without having to remove the entire inner door panel.

There was originally a plastic sheet inside the door panel but it had deteriorated and I removed what was left.

I later added removable caps to cover the holes.
