wtb: roof rack in canada

Post by dlb »

I'm looking for this style of roof rack:

If anyone in Canada has a set they would sell me, let me know how much you would want for them. I'm not interested in buying from the US because I did that before and shipping was more than I wanted to spend. Thanks!

bump. Still looking.

It just occurred to me that if I could get into a wrecker's yard, I could probably find one that would fit from any other similar sized car. I'm sure I've seen Ford Escort wagons with the same style of rack. The local yard here is closed to the public right now but maybe I'll go ask them about it, just in case.

David,

I had to cut these down some, but they were significantly stouter than most others. These came off a late 90s thru early 2000 Mazda MPV.

Chris,

How did you mount those roof racks? Have you tested it by any kind of stress? Looks pretty dope

BM,

When you remove the ceiling cover, your to the bottom side of the roof. From there it is just drilling, sealing and bolting on. It is stout and worked out well. I pulled it off a Mazda van, cut it to fit and mounted. The only other thing I did was cut some grooves so the cross braces can be removed/installed easily and allows less drag on the highway.

Now, I must confess, the clips easily break when you pull the ceiling cover and I haven’t gotten around to getting the cover back on.
