Group/forum sticker

Post by Smatters09 »

So I've mentioned on Facebook having a tercel sticker for all us fans and a guy came up with this sticker I'm ok with it maybe just removing the .com but figured I'd share it on here to see if everyone's open to the idea of it since both the forum and Facebook page are called tercel 4wd it's pretty fitting for both pages to represent I'm cool with it just wanting others opinions thanks dont want to upset anyone on here or the Facebook page thanks

it does not upset me, but I think you send a mixed message with a decal like that. Tercel4wd.com refers to this private forum, owned by the members (more or less). We set the rules and the moderators sets the policy and control content.

Facebook is owned by the Zuck, and has access to all your info who can use all of it as they see fit. IOW, you are the product on FB, you have no say in it, nor any control over it. Many protest it and will not have a FB account because of it.

it seems to me you should promote one or the other on separate decals. Personally if I got one of those to put on my car I would trim off the "facebook", since I do not want to provide free ads to benefit a big company that likes to keep you under surveillance.

I second this sentiment.

I agree with the above. If the facebook group truly has no connection to the forum, then let's not promote them. If they ARE connected, just include the ".com" on the sticker and include little facebook icon as well.

Hey all,

It is a DIFFERENT group, but we are seeing more and more overlap. From my conversation with Seth when delivering parts, we are a more “mature” group here (age wise), whereas the FB group is generally younger. That said, I’ve noticed Peter, Robert, AbletobeCain and others posting there as well. I’ve sold parts on both sites and a strong affiliation makes sense to me.

I’ve found folks in my area that have the same passion for our cars, but aren’t particularly interested in or active on our site.

I would fall into this category. I generally am more active on Facebook because it is more convenient for my lifestyle but I am not necessarily loyal to it and don't appreciate its invasion of privacy. I agree and understand the aversion to being associated with Facebook but promoting some sort of adhesion may boost activity on both sites. At the end of the day, they are both great sources for knowledge, information, parts, and culture.

Either way (Separate decals or a single decal), it sounds interesting.
