Auction in Strong City, KS on Saturday

No pics, but a Tercel SR5 is listed, I think I can just see the front of it behind the white 97’ Tercel.

Hey Chard & Diarmait,

The fellow who purchased the south KS Tercel needs to move it. No title, pretty rough, but I’ve indicated I would come save what I could for $$ and presumably he would scrap the rest. Any thoughts?? It shouldn’t be too bad to drop the tranny, any tricks? I assume the wheels are 13”?

Take it all! Not worth very much in scrap, around here it's been 30-40 per ton for months. Those alloys should be 13's.

Chris,

I would be interested in parts and I am needing a good engine for my red 84'. That car appears to have cruise control that someone may be interested in. The tranny should not be too difficult to drop. I could potentially help you as I am not that far away. That would appear to be an 83 or 84 so the finals will be 3.73. And yes those wheels are 13". Oddly enough, one of my cars has just one wheel like that. If you have room, offer to take the whole thing.

Hey Diarmait,

I’m not seeing the King City car (that’s my back yard).

I would have to see how my parents felt about me dropping the car at the home place over winter. But I would still have to find the time to strip/sell/salvage so I could unload the left over in the spring. If it was out at the farm, I wouldn’t know when to stop, would want to save it all.

I was really hoping for adjustable intermittent wipers when I noticed the cruise control, but no such luck. Here is a pic of the cruise lever.

Chris,

The Tercel in King City seems to have disappeared.

I know what you mean about not know when to stop if you had the car in your possession. If you need any help let me know. I like to save as many parts for other owners as possible. Pretty much everything is worth saving as far as I'm concerned. All interior trim, transmission/front diff, drive shaft, rear axle, front sway bar, rear glass, being the main things. Even the power steering rack bushings if in good shape.

If youre parting it, dropping the tranny will be easy-ish. Unbolt the trans-engine cross braces, starter, the 4 bellhousing bolts, clutch cable, the single 10mm bolt on the left side holding a coolant line, drop the driveshaft, cut the CV's, remove the shifter, unbolt the crossbrace and 4wd linkage, unplug the wiring harness, and start yanking. It'll be awkward when it drops, but it shouldnt be too hard to remove.

Hardest part may be the shifter. I busted a windshield when I was trying to remove the shifter from my first wagon. Big vice grips on the side, crescent wrench under the vice grips to act as a lever, and a few hardy blows to the wrench later the shifter came out and smashed my windshield lol. I was more careful on my second wagon when I had to perform the same maneuver. The issue with mine is the little plastic ball gets stuck in the socket and refuses to come out.
