After hours scratching my head, I finally found a plugged vent tube. A mud dobber had made himself a home in there. It got to the point that it was building some much pressure that it was puking oil out of the dipstick hole. After clearing the vent hose, I can now get an accurate reading. She was running over 3 quarts low! Not good. Smooth shifting now. I also found the temp sensor wire had been chewed off by a mouse so for all I know the tranny has been overheating. Oil still looks good and shifts great, must be a fairly tough tranny.
