Where are the switches for rear hatch located that turn on OPEN DOOR light?

Post by fasontales »

I just looked all over the rear hatch and can’t find where any switch is located that would flip the light on the dash. Is it contact on the latch itself?

it is in the latch assembly at the lower threshold. it is a little lever with a hole in it just left of the lower latch (the hole once held a little rubber bumper, I have only seen one still in place).

Think you'll find the switch is part of the tailgate-mounted latch ass'y (at least that's where it is on my '85 T4- just checked it tonight.) You probably have a broken wire/wires where the harnesses pass from the body to the tailgate.
if it aint there, there's a good chance it won't break!
