they show up at irregular intervals on Amazon and auto parts sites, you just have to keep checking.

but it seems to me it is just as well to by pass it. you need to study the systems in controls and just set them to run in the warm condition. it should work fine, at worst it will be a bit baulky on first start up when stone cold, but should only take a min or two to run normal.

Would the tvsv cause the car to not idle but instead rev up and down?

reving up and down is a classic symptom of a vac leak. keep looking, you will find it. Usually easy to fix.

have you tried sparying puffs of carb cleaner, or starter fluid, around the vac lines while it is running? a change in rpm means you found the spot where the leak is located, the spray gets sucked in and will change the engine speed. remember to also check the all the gaskets surfaces in the intake side, it does not necessarily have to be a leaky vac line.

If that fails, sometimes one of the vac operated components will have an internal leak. this is more difficult to find, but you have to run through the simple tests shown in the FSM, testing each component one at a time, until you locate the bad component. sometimes you can speed up this process by pulling the vac line to each component and putting your finger over the ends. if the surging stops, you found the source.

the fix is usually the easy part, finding it can be very time consuming and frustrating. so take it one step at a time, systematicly eliminating each possible sources one at a time.

Intake leak I believe I replaced intake gasket and carb gasket. Runs good but dies once it warms up. I'm at a loss with this thing. Any help would be great trying to find time to test the tvsv.

I do not think the TVSV malfunction would cause it to stall it out if it is bad.

It might if the AAP is bad, it will leak raw fuel into the TVSV and make it over rich, could stall it out. Usually it just runs rich. easy check, pull off vac line to AAP, if you find it full of full, cap off both ends. It will run fine after it warms up, it is only for cold starts.

A local Toyota dealer (Folsom Lake Toyota) was able to source a TVSV for me (NIB!) It could be worth calling around to a local dealer/service shop. It was like three hundred bucks, but it was totally worth it as it got my car to pass SMOG.
Also, there's a used one on eBay with a buy it now of sixty bucks.

TRUST MEit eventually cracked in half .and although i did not have to resort to bypassing some of the would be ports on the tvsv .because once it cracked in half the car would no run at all i tried jb weld i tried .2 part epoxy .they got you by the short ones with that price
