rigging in old cassette deck and newish cd player
found this wiring database.
has anyone ever used it before? is it worth its salt?

Seems legit, but what are you trying to put I'm there exactly? Same era kind of stereo? If you put in anything aftermarket then the aftermarket harness is plug and play and color coated.

OEM tape deck out an 87 sr5 i think. and a Panasonic cd player.
hah aint no plugs just spaghetti monster wires. i have it all figured out now. i have installed both decks neatly and successfully in original trim case. now i need to find a tidy relay switch so i can decide which deck is powering the speakers otherwise it shorts itself out.
i really dont feel like runnin two sets of speakers, rather just a neat switch, either attached to speaker wires.
or maybe selecting which deck is powered. im not sure if the latter will work.

Interesting! Haha. Maybe one of those double rocker 3 position switches might work? The On-off-on type. I'd like to see that in action once you get it figured out.

thats the one, still looking for the switch :P
now i must find a new tape deck though. apparently the one i have is picky when it comes to which side of the car it likes to play music from. hah
