Just thought that was a bit much lol. The little Geo weighs something like 1600 lbs... then again it is the plastic wonder-car... But when you weigh it up against the Ford Excursion it really isn't anything... 7400 lbs dry!

As you "come up in the world"....you will eventually be driving 5000 lbs of steel...then when you die...they take you to "your final resting place" in maybe 7500 lbs of steel. At least that's the way it was in "the good ole days".

With PEAK OIL on the way...you will probably go to your "resting place" in a wheel barrow?

Just trying to be positive......

2400 lb is light for a car, but I meant to question the efficiency of even using a car for one person and no cargo, based on space and fuel. I hope more people realize that there is an oil crisis coming soon and that we will be forced to change.

I've stood bedside freeways before and watched many large cars going by...most with just one person it them....and thought how strange it really was.

I'd like to have at least one car for every different task. No point in trying to make one vehicle do everything. But I'll try with my Metro anyway.
  • Daily driver - Something comfortable and quiet with incredible MPG, like a diesel/electric hybrid. (I will need to make this one :) )
  • Fun car - Something small and light that's at home on a race track or winding backroad. (CRX, MR2, 510, Locost, etc.)
  • Offroad - Something that can go anywhere and not leave you stranded. (Samurai?)
  • Winter - Something 4WD and efficient (4WD Tercel would work nicely)
  • Work truck - Needs to be capable of towing or hauling heavy things (commercial Isuzu?)
Yes, they're all Japanese. :D
