Tercels moving to a new Neighborhood

Post by atoyta »

Looks as though I am selling my 3 wagons, a friend of my Son wants them for his kids first cars. I turn 65 next week and just don't have the gumption to fix the & keep them on the road due to health issues & my age. Selling him 2 85's & an 83. Both of the 85's run although one has a clutch disc installed backwards, the reason I was given the car. The 83 has a completely rebuilt transmission with new gears from Japan & a rebuilt engine, both with under 40,000 miles on them. The 83 has a bad diff in the rear & bashed behind the rear wheel well. I am also giving him a complete extra car worth of parts with the deal. Does $800 sound fair for a guy who doesn't have a lot of money & 3 teenage kids? I will direct him here once he picks them up. I will still probably hang out on here because I have grown to like you guys.

Its a very generous deal but as they all seem to need some work I hope he has the patience to put them on the road. Good on you.

well good for them! that is an outstanding deal. I hope they take care of them and keep them nice, many people do with their first car. they will go up in value.

OTOH, seems a lot of young people who get gifts like this do not appreciate or care for them as they should, may even resent them because of the cars age and out of fashion (a Tercel is not exactly a chick magnet). I hope not, that would be a shame, kids like that should get a common and cheap old domestic car that they can wreck.

Actually, his wife put her foot down and told him no. I have since found a ton of parts additional to the 83 car with the dent in the rear quarter panel that I called the parts car. I will probably be putting it all up for sale here very soon.

I think this is probably all for the best. It takes a real enthusiast to keep such an old car on the road so I like to see these cars go to folks who know what they're getting into and are ok with that commitment. Good luck with the sale, I'm sure you'll have no problem re-homing your t4's.
