looking to slightly raise a Toyota Matrix

Post by LowBuckCanuck »

I have a 2005 Toyota Matrix. Great car.

Backing out of the driveway, something drags.

Not good.

I would like to raise the suspension slightly, no more than an inch.

Anyone have experience with this? There was a 4wd model that may have stiffer/longer springs, but I'm not sure.

Thanks!

I looked at those, they seem a bit... shitty?

Cutting boards on top of the struts seem like a better option than that.

Haha I figured so. I juse seen a set on a friends car earlier this week and thought of that. What about air shocks? I know there are a lot of guys here who love those.

Well, I've lifted my tercel with spacers and air shocks because it is my project car, but I was hoping to do something a bit more professional on my daily driver Matrix. Thats why I was leaning towards the struts from a 4wd, but I think the rear suspension might be different. Theres no saying if the 4wd springs would do anything, people usually don't lift 2wd models of cars when a 4wd one is available.

the rear suspension on the 2wd and 4wd matrix is completely different, I would be surprised if the struts was interchangeable. the simple fix I think is airshocks, it will not alter the car at all, and give you a simple means to adjust the ride height when desired.
