Either candidate is just as likely to be a disaster (for different reasons).

the real problem with the up coming presidential election is: ONE OF THEM HAS TO WIN!

Either Of them will be a disaster for America, and the rest of the world. But Donald wins out in the disaster stakes.

no way of knowing yet. but Hillary's stint as head of State Department resulted in multiple civil wars in the middle east, and her personal fortunes through her so-called charitable foundation went through the roof. Great track record for president.

Not a fan of the other one either, I read his books back when they first came out...I am not impressed with his "negotiating" methods he describes in "Art of the Deal".

Of course, George's stint as President resulted in multiple unwinnable wars for America ...

but now were are involved in a number of new additional wars, unrelated to the old ones, with no clear objective and no recognizable benefit to us. So it does not matter what party or person you elect, you do not know what will happen after they get in office.

We do not have any good choices, Hillary unfortunately has a history of incompetence and corruption (and has taken a campaign position of being a war hawk...who knows what she will do in office). The other has a no recognizable campaign positions, and no history of holding any elected office, who knows what he will do in office. He does at least have a history of business success, (much of that however is boastful self promotion), though business success does not always translate well to political office.

A few times the US has elected presidents with no elected office experiance, and it did not go very well. President Hoover comes to mind, a far more successful business man than Trump, a great humanitarian and had actually held some important appointed positions in government (unlike Trump). But as a president, he was a disaster.

Right now we appear to have a choice of someone who has been been bought by business and foreign government interests through "donations" or campaign contributions, and a person who spent his business career buying off politicians like the other one.

Great choice

I'm in the "anyone but Clinton" camp. Just read another point of view that strengthens my position.

Something to think about, indeed . . .

Supreme Court Of The United States

Some people have brought up the fact that they won't vote for the Republican nominee if the eventual nominee is not the man they wanted. I just want to put something in perspective.

Justice Scalia's seat is vacant.

Ginsberg is 82 years

Kennedy is 79

Breyer is 77

Thomas is 67.

Nowadays, the data shows that the average age of a Supreme Court retirement or death occurs after 75.

These are 5 vacancies that will likely come up over the next 4-8 years. The next President will have the power to potentially create a 7-2 Supreme Court skewed in their ideology.

Think about that... 7-2.

If the next President appoints 5 young justices, it will ****guarantee control of the Supreme Court for an entire generation. And 7-2 decisions will hold up much more over time than 5-4 decisions which are viewed as lacking in mandate.

Hillary has made it clear she will use the Supreme Court to go after the 2nd Amendment. She has literally said that the Supreme Court was wrong in its Heller decision stating that the Court should overturn and remove the individual right to keep and bear arms. Period.

Anyone and Everyone who is saying that they won't vote for one candidate or the other if they are the GOP nominee, please realize this. Hear this! If Hillary Clinton wins and gets to make these appointments, you likely will never see another conservative victory at the Supreme Court level for the rest of your life. Ever.

Whoever is the GOP nominee ... go VOTE for the GOP Nominee!

Remember Romney? Three million conservatives who had voted for McCain did not cast a vote for Romney (for whatever reason) .... and the result was four additional years of B.H.O.

AND ONE FINAL THOUGHT , she's already on the record as saying that her buddy, B.H.O. "would make a great Supreme Court Justice."

I'm very glad to read such intelligent discussions among the Tercel members when the impression we get around the rest of the world is that you guys are very nationalistics and accept all the BS the pollies throw at you, that half of the US population don't even bother to vote and you end up with presidents like Dubya Bush. I hope I'm not offending anybody here and not trying to go off topic.
As an engineer I find it very difficult to understand the events of 9/11. How do 2 planes bring down 3 buildings the way they did and the one that hit the Pentagon vapourised without a trace and no debris? And building 7 wasn't even hit. To start with if a plane hit a building made of steel and concrete it would break up on impact not go through it. You guys are all mechanically minded. Some are of you engineers, Architects and maybe even scientists, what are your thoughts? If anyone has lost anybody that day, I deeply apologise for bringing this up.
In Oz, I haven't met many people, including engineers, who have questioned the explanations given. Maybe they are too scared to do so because of the sedition laws that were brought in after 9/11.

a very detailed and proper analysis of the events around 9/11 have been done. And the American society of Civil engineers (a private industry group, not a government agency) has done an analysis of the downing of the buildings. You can find it on the internet.

As someone with 30 plus years as a professional engineer, their analysis is the ONLY one that was done properly, and is consistent with the evidence and my knowledge of building design. Those buildings acted just like they were expected to. You do not need to melt steel to make the building collapse: heat treated steel will lose most of its strength after an hour or two at only 200 degree F. All you need to do is loose the heat treatment and the building is weakened, and it will collapse in succession, as each collapsing floor overloads the one below it. There is no mystery. These people that assemble so-called evidence of government insolvent are just paranoid and mentally unstable individuals that never want to believe what is obvious and right in front of them.

As far as the pentagon, there was airplane wreckage scattered around the pentagon, in the colors of American Airlines, all over the news papers, here is only one of many:

Image

I worked at Boeing for a number of years some time ago, that part looks like the engine cowl to me, right off the wing.

Needless to say, there is a famous English historian that once said something like "never attribute to conspiracy that can be explained by incompetence".

Our government is not competent enough to run any kind of conspiracy: it tends to mess up everything it attempts. It too big, too expensive, too incompetent. Just read the news: 5000 people missed their flights in one week at one airport waiting for the ill trained security screeners to process their luggage and IDs. The tax authority (IRS) had the data base of taxpayers hacked and millions of peoples' personal information was stolen. Thousands of military veterans die waiting to get surgery or medications from the military hospitals. The list goes on and on.

It is completely irrational that our government not only can pull off a massive conspiracy, that involves thousands of people, but that they pull it off so perfectly it leaves no evidence? No witnesses? The simple and obvious explanation is they are just incompetent, like most governments around the world.

Petros, I don't remember seeing photos of debris from the plane that hit the Pentagon. Maybe they didn't show it on the news here. I agree with you about governments being incompetent. it's exactly the same here.
I will look up the ASCE findings on the internet, but the part that I struggled with most is how did building 7 come down. Surely the heat from buildings 1 & 2 wouldn't have brought it vertically down, one or two sides would've got heated and weakened the structure on these sides. The building would've collapsed sideways not vertical.

what I heard from someone that was at the site about building seven was that it was intentionally demolished. If my memory is correct, it was badly weakened after the WTC collapsed, once it was determined that everyone was out of it, they demolished it the next day on purpose since it posed a hazard to recovery personnel.

this is a perfectly plausable explanation since this is fairly normal during recovery operations. You do not want to create more victims, the first job of any first responders is to save themselves so you do not endanger more emergency personnel trying to save you.

This article, to me, couldn't explain his popularity much better. I fully agree..

David Limbaugh is Rush's younger brother. He’s got a law degree and a poli-sci degree. Has been a professor, is an author, has served in political capacities, and is regarded as an expert in law and politics. The man is an extremely articulate and eloquent wordsmith with what appears to be a superlative talent for framing his arguments in visceral terms. His discussion below pretty much puts America's political scene, as being impacted by Trump, into crystal clear focus.

The Establishment birthed Trump!
Much of the establishment's criticism of Donald Trump comes from its failure to comprehend the reasons for his soaring popularity. Establishment types seem untroubled by the problems facing America, so they can't understand the urgency that fathered Trump's rise. Minor adjustments to the Hindenburg's dining room menu just aren't going to get it.
Their overwrought analysis, their hand-wringing and their contemptuousness for Trump betray a disdain not only for Trump but for Americans who recognize the gravity of America's predicament -- and who, in desperation, have turned to Trump for bold action.
It's hard to overstate Americans' concern for the state of the nation. Horrified by President Obama's Sherman-esque march through America, they are tired of hearing that nothing can be done. They are through with empty promises from establishment politicians.
People are tired of Obama's pitting blacks against whites, women against men, gays against heterosexuals, rich against poor, non-taxpayers against taxpayers, citizens against cops and his Muslims against Christians. They can no longer stomach Obama's apologizing for America and excusing terrorists while rushing to attack Christians at every turn.
People are sick of being called racists for things that happened in this country before they were born or before they could vote, for opposing Obama's destructive agenda, or for simply being Republicans. They abhor the war on cops orchestrated by racial hucksters and pandering politicians. They are incredulous that any president would deliberately engineer America's decline and degrade our military. They are tired of the nation's chief executive officer's flouting laws and thwarting the people's will.
Americans are sick of Obama's trashing America's founding, assaulting capitalism, and bellowing about man-made global warming as a pretense to impose more liberty-smothering regulations. They are nauseated by politicians who are more interested in bipartisanship with scofflaws than with saving the nation.
People are mortified by the nation's fiscal instability, its unbridled national debt, its spiraling entitlements and Washington's refusal to address them. They are sick of the fraudulent spending "cuts." They have had their fill of the lies, especially about Obamacare, whose costs dwarf Obama's promised projections and are getting worse by the day. They've reached their limit with this administration's rewarding unemployment and laziness while punishing work, its honoring socialism and demonizing capitalism.
People are sick of politically correct bullies. They are exhausted by lectures about not paying their fair share when half the income earners don't pay income taxes. They are fed up with lies about decreasing unemployment rates when tens of millions have dropped out of the workforce.
Every other week, we face a new existential threat to the nation -- threats perpetrated or enabled by Obama and the Washington establishment. But the establishment meets these perils with barely disguised indifference. Islamic terrorism is overrunning the Middle East and has reached our mainland, and Obama doesn't dare whisper its name. Obama refuses to enforce the borders; he orders his administration not to enforce immigration laws; he lawlessly grants amnesty to millions of immigrants who are here illegally; and he and his party set up sanctuary cities that harbor criminal immigrants.
Last year, we faced an invasion from Central America; now, in the name of compassion, we are inviting in Syrian refugees -- some 72 percent of whom are, curiously, men. Are we afraid to wonder aloud whether those who sidestep the legal immigration process will embrace the American idea.? Whether they will end up on the welfare rolls.?
With Congress' help, Obama bypassed the Constitution's treaty clause and entered into a reckless, non-verifiable nuke deal with Iran and will give the Iranians a $150 billion signing bonus to fund terrorism and build ballistic missiles.
So where does that leave us?
People have heard one too many times that the Republican Party, if it regains control, will turn things around. Republicans have been so timid in opposing Obama's agenda that many have quit believing they'll reverse this madness if they acquire full control.
Along comes Trump, who gives voice to these legitimate grievances instead of calling people racist, selfish or hysterical. He emphasizes the urgency of these problems, and he denounces the status quo, the establishment, Washington inertia and political correctness without an ounce of apology.
People are dehydrated, and he's their Gatorade®.
Whether Trump could or would deliver on his promises is one thing, but the establishment's arrogant failure to acknowledge, let alone decry the horror of, the status quo is his lifeblood. If Trump is a monster, the establishment is Dr. Frankenstein, so please spare us the lectures.

Splatterdog - we have exactly the same situation here in Oz. We have two major parties with very little differences in their policies. As a result we replace our prime minister every 2 years and our government every 3 years because our politicians are so out of touched. I reckon that if a figure like Donald Trump was here, he would get elected very easily as long as he could counter the influence of Rupert Murdoch's press.

Imagine this, Hillary doesn't win anymore primaries and doesn't reach the magic number. Neither does Bernie. The DNC is contested and neither Bernie or Hillary is able to get a majority. In the end, the Dems decide to go in another direction. Hello Joe. It could happen.
