I must be crazy

Post by Gottolovem »

Well I did it again    the entire jeep thing just was not right for me i just didn't fit inside the thing!! And it loves to have wrenches on it ALL the time. So here is the new "topless toy" for weekend adventuring. I went to see this buggy with Florrykitty on vacation here in Reno.On the test drive we shot up to 65 mph in a flash everyones hair was flapping in the wind and their was BIG shit eating grins on everyone's face    then Florrykitty says see how well the brakes work we went from 65 to 0 in about 40ft it felt like my face was getting pulled off   at that point I KNEW I HAD TO HAVE IT :oldgeek: and yes the top comes off.
1776 engine
4 wheel disks

wow, that looks like the old style of dune buggies that used be popular when i was a little kid in the 80's. you don't see them much anymore, people seem to prefer ATV's, which are boring to me. i would love to drive something like this over the sand dunes of the oregon coast.

my father-in-law had one of these in yellow. I never cared for it, kind of heavy, but it does remind me of driving "yesteryear" popular kits. Primative raw driving experiance, not like todays boring and cushy cars and AWD SUV. that just looks like way too much fun to leave with a for sale sign on it. how much was it? Sounds like a great engine and suspension set up, 4 wheel disks? the stock vw brakes on my old sand rail (frame type dune buggy) were nearly worth less. That would be an excellent and much needed up grade to modern technology.

The seller was shooting for the moon @ 5,000 grand I let him sit on the c-list add till he drooped to 4,000 then I went to test drive it.
when I got there it would barley cycle into gear. I knew it was a loose clutch cable but he didn't the blinkers didn't work all the chips were falling my way $$$ the short throw shifter was adjusted crappy even more bargaing power :D :D he said he would come down to 3,500 i said i would give him 3,000 or walk away he took it .That may seem like a lot for a glorified lawn mower but if you check the market for comparable complete runners i got a good deal

It's not heavy at all I can pick the entire front end off the ground by myself (I'm a big guy) but still lite
Yes 4 wheel disk breaks just the conversion kits are a grand for both front and rear
your right Peter it's a very raw car, a ton of fun to drive easy and cheep to repair. I'm pleased a punch for a tow behind motor home car it's light compared to the jeep and I don't have to carry a ton of tools to keep the jeep from rattling it's self apart.

Looks like a little toy dune buggy I used to have. So you sold the jeep?

that I think is ideal for a tow behind, not only a small tool kit, but a small box of spare parts is all you need to keep it on the road. It is light compared to most of today's full sized ORV. The fiberglass body dune buggies were somewhat heavy compared to the all very light sand rail (space frame) dune buggies (tyically under 1000 lbs), but most of them were not street legal nor very practical for daily driving. Not a bad price for all of neat stuff that thing has on it. Almost ready to go, just some TLC it sounds like.

Hey that's a cool buggy. Sounds like a blast. My husband has a home-built Super 7 ('81 Corolla drive train and motor) that he loves to death. Like your buggy, it's a raw driving experience and has manual steering/brakes. Stops on a dime, goes in a blink of the eye. You will have no end of fun in your buggy, guaranteed.

I had a Honda Odyssey dune buggy that was alot of fun for about 12 years...mine was the 350cc version. 1985. Sold it about a year ago to somebody who has several of them who wanted to restore it.
