My auto trans truck (a 1995 F-250 diesel) stalls when the ATF is low.

Ha, the wife does not like manual transmissions but it would make the whole thing easier for sure.

I went out and bought 10 feet of both sized vacuum hoses and am going to tackle that this week and just replace every vacuum line.

Eventually I'll make a proper thread for this but here's some teasers we dealt with on the cooling system:

This is what came out when I drained the radiator the first time:

Took a hose through the radiator, block, heater core:

Water was still nasty. Needed to deal with that weird radiator hose that is NLA:

Then I set a home grown flush up and kept putting distilled water through while running the engine until it came out clear:

Holy moly, is that all rusty water? Had the previous owner been running straight water in it for years and years? I've never seen anything like that.

It smelled like antifreeze still! I think it was just worn out and had been sitting for like 20 years...

On that note we're thinking of calling her Coffee or Espresso or Beans or something because of this that came out after the first flush:

Yuck! Motorcraft has an aggressive rust removing chemical. Follow directions and don't leave it in too long if you try it, it's some strong stuff.

I ended up putting the outlet over the side of the car as I poured more distilled water in (with thermostat removed) and did that until it ran clear.

I figured I'll wait until spring and see how it looks, and if needed use something a bit more drastic than the normal $6 flush I did.

Acquired this a few months ago from a friend of a friend. They basically gave it to me for free. Either he didn’t know what he had or it would have been to much of a pain to find a buyer. As far as i know it needs fuel pump and a battery as well as general maintenance from sitting for a few year. At first a thought this would be a great 4age donor car, however I’m starting to change my mind. The car isn’t worth anything as far as restoration goes but I’m starting to get ideas of a around town beater or something similar. I think the main draw of the car to me right now is the fact that i don’t have to worry about destroying it because it’s already so far gone, but i know its going to be a blast to drive. Thoughts anyone?

Also it is a 87 gts manual.
