I didn't realize the windshield and rear quarter glass were so heavy!

I did this to the 86. It tilled over at 690lbs I believe.

The 84 will end up with the same treatment so the 87 can live.

No quarter glass, just windshield. She is completely stripped. Could be almost 100 lbs lost to rust! That was it's end.

Thanks again Mickey_D! It also gave me almost a year of service too. A death wobble started about 3 weeks ago, and got worse fast, that wasn't tires or front end parts. That and the pressure from the wife to thin the herd got me off my butt and the 85 behind it running.

That 200k engine is in excellent shape also. 210 psi compression across the board. Left the top alone because of this. Decided to replace crankshaft bearings though. The thrust bearings were the only ones that made much difference in clearances. Zero sludge too. Crankcase looked like it could still be under warranty!

I thought 178 psi was spec.? Did they have higher compression out of the box? and here I thought I was doing good with 175 on my '81 (the '87 isn't so good though, if I remember its like 135, 160, 155, 135)

I was definitely surprised/pleased with the numbers. I have no idea on the history of this 200k engine, other than it got it's oil changes. Maybe the head got shaved for a new gasket?

I'll have to check the 84 next time I screw plugs in.

There was only one owner before me. She used the car to drive to and from work in Bemidji. All highway driving. As far as I know the only thing ever done to the engine was oil and filter changes and the occasional tune-up.

I never had it apart, I know that. And I'm fairly certain that was the original clutch on it. Yes, with 195,000 miles.

Good chance it was. Had the aisin stamp and about another 25-50K left on it by the looks of it. Plus, my 85 got it's first at almost 240K as reported by the original owner. And the wifes has 220K and it feels like it's getting there.

That's amazing lifespan/dependability. When all 3 of your clutch experiences with a particular car are consistent I don't think it's just a coincidence. Most of my clutch jobs have been on domestics and usually at half the mileage of an old tercel.

The more I get to know the T4, which is VERY good now that I have completely dismantled one, the more I appreciate the mechanical simplicity and dependability. This thing was rusted to the point of being dangerous yet every bolt, except for a few 6mm body ones underneath came out no problem. Didn't need the torch once.

Brake lines even cracked loose and spun out like new. I've had 3 year old lines on K-car era mopars need to be red hot before they would move.

Sorry to even compare. :!:
