Post by xirdneh »

I found this number online and called to check on some of the tranny bearings
1 800 409 3632
Available B25-145 NSK (aft end of Input Shaft and forward end of Output Shaft) $29.00
32RT0653LRN C3 NACHI (aft end of Counter Shaft) $39.50
I ordered one each

Unavailable KOYO RNU070614 (front Input Shaft roller bearing)
KOYO RNU0713 (front Input Shaft roller bearing
NSK VP34-2 (front Input Shaft roller bearing)
NSK VP34-1 (front Input Shaft roller bearing)

Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

My transmission kit arrived! My transmission kit arrived!yesterday. here is what it has, looks all Japanese made parts by OEM suppliers Koyo, Nachi, etc All the part numbers match those listed above.

It has five large ball bearings, three with seals, two with metal ring on the outside (rear input shaft bearing), one roller bearing (front input shaft bearing), three needle bearing sleeves, five syncro rings (gears 1 thru 5, I assume, does the EL use a syncro?), and five seals: rear out put shaft, front CV axle seals, the selector lever seal, and another one like it but larger (not sure where it goes). Curiously it has no input shaft seal, nor any of the shift linage boots or plastic bushings, but it does come with a diff cover gasket and the cv axles seals, but no diff parts, and no snap rings.

according to a local trans rebuilder, the heavy Toyota snap rings are intended to be used over again. they are NLA from the factory, so if you damage one you have to locate used ones.

if we can find suppliers for all these items we can likely assemble the kit for a bit less than I paid for it ($541 including shipping). This is a typical "retail" price for this kit (though some retailers wanted much more for it). The kit was shipped directly from the supplier to me, not from Advanced Auto. I wonder if they would sell directly to us through the Tercel4wd forum website, might save some money if they might treat us as a vendor. I will call their "tech support line" on monday and inquire.

Who here wants to buy a trans kit? if I can put together an order of 3 or 4 they might gives us a discount.

for a handful of bearings, synchros, and paper gaskets, that is nothing short of highway robbery.

I have a large number of "cores" five I think and some more to come from a parts pile i will be buying!
It's geat to hear that there is hope for our old obsolete trannys!
If you guys are ever missing a bit or piece (petros&xirdneh)you know where to look.
I hope that you have enough intrest in rebuilds that you can make a few bucks.
Before I commit to a kit i need to pull apart a known bad cluster and evaluate If i have the skills to put it back together.

BK224WS available from Advance Auto Parts for $591.49 (free shipping)... maybe a bit less if you have some sort of coupon or promo code

also available from Advance Auto:
BK224 = tranny rebuild kit without the synchros
$349.99

BK224 also available elsewhere for $197.99 ?? contact for availability -- http://cobratransmission.com/index.php? ... ath=2_2062
I emailed the latter supplier (Cobra) to inquire about the full kit, with synchros (CT-BK224WS)... will report back with info if they reply

the bearing part numbers on the bearing themselves are exactly the same. so that means we have to buy up what ever available stock is still out there and save them.

Cobra Trans lists the kits but when I ordered one from them they said NLA. No sale!

the lowest cost price for this kit was from Advanced Autoparts, still a bit pricy for what you get but not nearly as bad as Autozone and the others.

there are lots of suppliers that list it, but few actually have it. I was surprised that Advanced auto actually had it.

I do not understand why they list it but do not sell it. surely there is no benefit to frustrate potential customers and have your sales staff waste time by telling all inquiries that it is NLA.

If you only need bearings, or a bearing, this site can get it for you. You have to measure the ID, OD and height of the bearing and the type of bearing (roller, needle, sealed, etc) and you will find it here. I have even gotten bearings that had mixed measurements, for example 1/2" ID x 11mm height x 35mm OD.

Edit: my bad. Here is the site.
