Mac, If you run into any problems, just post here and I'll give you some pointers. Other than that, if you have any mechanical ability at all, I think you'll find it really easy. I can assure you that the connectors are completely interchangeable between the SR5 and non SR5 gauge clusters (in the wagons anyhow). Just a matter of removing a few screws, unplugging the connectors, and installing the new one in reverse.

thats good to know, my concers sprouted from the fact that on a non-SR5 equipped toyota, there was no wire going to the RPM signal sender on the distributor. running a new wire for the tach signal wouldn't be a problem, but i was worried about anything else like that which would cause headaches.

so i guess the RPM signal is all i have to concern myself with then.

thanks

I upgraded to the SR5 cluster recently. Love having the tach and clock. The only real problem was the speed cable is not exactly at the same place in the two cluster versions. It needs to be pulled way back and rerouted around the dash framework and other wire harnesses so it goes in straight. I also removed those green shades from the background lights, big improvement in night vision of the cluster. I reset the odometer to reflect the original true mileage that was on the old cluster. The plastic frame holding the odometer mileage spindle (which does not turn) can be cracked apart, then 'welded' melted back together with a soldering iron. Speedometer has an internal adjustment tab and the needle can be pulled off, turned and reattached, calibrated it to my GPS speed.
