This can be done with front grill in place. Just drill two holes side by side in this spot with 1/4 drill and slip a drift pin or something like it into hole. best if tip is about 1/8 diameter. With grill intact you have to insert drift pin to left hole and
push drift pin to right. Had to figure this out the other day when my cable was broke. Luckily i had a couple of spare latch devices lying around. More importantly, I could find them.

Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.
