I recently replaced both cv axles on my Tercel the same day that I did the driver side popped out on me
It has a c clip and I believe that I had it seated all the way
Any ideas on what could be the reason?
Thanks

Re: Cv axle popping out
IIRC a few members on here have had problems with the c-clips of certain brands of CV axles. If you do a search I'm sure you'll find a few threads on it.

Could be
Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

Re: Cv axle popping out
you might take a close look at the clip, see if you can improve its grip. if your own axle has a better/stronger one, try swaping it out.
you can also bend it open some to improve the holding power. any burrs or irregular edges at the spine shaft right around the clip could also be carefully filed (clean it real good after), you should have clean square edges where the clip rides in the groove at the spline shaft end.
bending it open a bit so it makes better engagement with the groove on the inside of the diff should help hold it place better.
Also, make sure the axle is all the way in.
you might compare the location of the clip at the axle end with the original axle, if it is in a different location you will have to replace the axle, it will not work on the tercel. Manufacturing defects such as this are not unusual unfortunately.

Re: Cv axle popping out
I recently started having this problem. Parked it yesterday in the garage and noticed a pool of trans fluid under it this morning. Looked down there and I was able to pull the axle out by hand.
This is its current state: The splines have started twisting. It's quite obvious I shouldn't use it anymore, but is there a way to fix it or just toss it and get another one?
I'm hoping there's not a bunch of damage internally.
Any recommendactions for axles?

Re: Cv axle popping out
I'm sure someone who knows more than me will comment soon but I'm pretty sure that one is trash. I'd be really nervous about the internals too.
I've put in the Cardone brand and while they worked, the splines were too big so Bob Walker helped me shave them down. I've put in 4 or 5 Trackmotive axles and they have never had this problem.
