Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

I do not find it necessary to remove the hood, the distributor nor the carb/intake mainifold at all (you just remove the two 14 mm head pipe bolts, and the single support braket mount under the intake manifold). You would not have to reset the spark timing if you leave the distributor in place. You do risk damaging it when handling the head with eveyr thring still bolted to it, but I find it saves a lot of time.

Also, there is no reason to get the engine to TDC before you have the head off, it is easy to turn my hand with the head off. of course than you have to crank the cam around to the right position before you reinstall the head, but that is easy compared to rotating the engine over while it is all assembled.

I also take off the TVSV, not strickly necessary but they are too easy to damage, and not worth the risk. It also makes it easier to get the by-pass tube under it installed, rather than trying to wiggle the head down over it when installing the head.

I have done it both ways as I mention late in the video.
Thought I'd start with this way for first headgasket video.
Will make another video when I do the next headgasket job
Doing it the other way.
Turned out that I had to use another head on this job anyway.
So it all worked out doing it this way this time.
