Someone already answered your question in the other thread, but it's a one-way check valve. Can be replaced by a universal part.
Thanks for the info! What about this spring that came from the back of the carb that closes the butterfly valve to the proper idle position after you let off the gas? It’s wrapped around the metal piece

Is the float level chart the same for 83 and 87?

yes, it should be. there were a few minor changes to the emissions system, and the jetting, but the carbs are almost identical and the floats are all the same.
'87 Tercel 4wd SR5 (current engine swap project)

the primary on mine looks strange
can anyone confirm that the fuel should dribble out not atomize?
