Fixing an Input Shaft bearing surface

Post by xirdneh »

The bearing surface was pitted and or grooved on three Input Shafts
A local machinist turned the surface down and pressed a hardened sleeve over it
then he cut off the excess sleeve (in this case it was right in the middle and used the excess on another shaft)
the sleeve was 1.125" Inside Diameter x 1.375" Outside Diameter x 1.25" long
the hole in the sleeve was an oil hole
then he turned the sleeve down to suit the new bearing KOYO RNU070614 (34mm 58mm 14mm)
one of the shafts was bent and he straightened it (tranny was probably dropped while being removed)
he charged 88.00 per shaft

first picture is sleeve that was cut off

Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.
