I bought two in January this one "rusty" came with a crate motor it was in half moon bay. I took it to another forum members house in Penn valley on a car dolly it runs great considering it sat for 8 years it does need a head gasket (gets hot) I'm going to grab it tomorrow. I hope it will make it over donner summit without issue 30 miles up hill then I can almost coast the other 50 YEE HAHHH!!!!
This makes nine t4's I have rescued and six in my yard right now but at least two maby three are on there way back out to new homes.
Do you want another there kinda like tater chips you can't have just one
So rusty made the 100 mile trip over donner summit without a hitch only running on 3 cylinders but didn't even come completely up to temperature going over Donner Pass weird! Maby not a head gasket?
I will go pull the plugs later see whats up
I totally expected to wrestle an overheating engine today but insted the cars temp barely even registered on the gauge.
You have to love a car that can sit for 8 years and fires right up to do a 100 mile mountian pass.
I have yet to find a t4 that couldn't be nursed home. They just want to please there owners like a loyal dog.
When i got the car it ran not sure of the story maby he used stabul or prehaps started it once in a while.
But it hasen't ben regesterd or driven in 8 years!
With your car i would see if the hard line is clear by trying to blow bubbles into the tank from where the filter is. If you can blow through it you might get away with diluting what's in the tank with fresh gas and running it
If it's clogged the tank will need to come out.
I hope you made it through the pass just fine. It's a great plus, being the season of winter, while having to deal with a hot motor. Hows the crate motor? are we talking new?? Great find!
If no rust accumulated on the floorboards, etc., undercarriage, no serious rust in engine compartment, then resell it cheap with the tune up and new head gasket...
