Drove all the way with 2 cats in the car. No problems except for the new rack I had put in turned out to be defective and developed an internal leak. Drove across the salt flats in Nevada and Utah, drove slowly over mountains, and so on and so on. Only leaked a quart of oil the whole way. I love this car.

that is a HUGE road trip, about 4000 miles according to google maps! how long did it take you? did you camp most of the way? i assume you have moved out to burlington, otherwise you've got another long drive home to seattle.

what did you do about the defective steering rack? did you keep track of your mileage on the trip?

looks like a great trip. I always take a full set of tools and a number of spare parts on a trip like that. It seems the only time my car needs (and gets) heavy maintenance is on long trips.

Wow, that's a haul! We all want more details and pics please. Why did you make the trip? To see friends/family or just for the hell of it? I've traveled with cats before - nice companions until they decide to take a bio break on your lap.
It's a scientific fact that in a twin engine aircraft, when one engine fails there is always enough power in the remaining engine to make it all the way to the crash site.
