Hehe.
I need a pic of my family fleet.
3 Toyota Tercels, 1 Ford Excursion, 1 Ford F-250 Supercab longbed, 1 Geo Metro, 1 VW Passat, 2 Honda Magna motorcycles, 1 Honda Rebel motorcycle, and 1 Yamaha Virago motorcycle.
The Ford's and the VW are diesel.
The Magna's get 50 mpg, the Rebel gets 70 mpg, the Virago gets about 55 mpg.
The Passat gets 45 mpg.
The Excursion gets 18 mpg.
The F-250 gets 16 mpg.
The Geo is capable of 45 mpg.
The Terc's should get 25mpg.

All mileages are hwy/city averages.

The Magna's have about 98 hp.
The Rebel has about 25 hp.
The Virago has about 50 hp.
The Passat has about 85 hp (155ft/lb torque).
The Excursion has about 350 hp (800-950 ft/lb torque)
The F-250 pushes about 500 hp and 1200 ft/lb of torque.
The Geo has roughly 70 hp.
The 2 Terc's with engines have about 65 hp.

We don't like stock things...
Ex= K&N Filter, 3.5" downpipe, 4" straight-back cat and muffler delete exhaust, injector resistor mod, and SuperChips Power Programmer

F-250= 4" downpipe and exhaust w/ 5" high-flow performance muffler, TYMAR intake (8 inch diameter x 18 inches long filter), Wicked Wheel turbo compressor, BTS Transmission, 315/65 16 tires, 4 inch lift coming soon, fuel supply fix, High-Flow transmission cooler, ALPINE/INFINITY 1500 watt sound system, and SUPER DUTY front brake calipers.

Passat= intercooler, VR6 clutch

Moms Magna= baffles removed from muffler and end drilled open, K&N filter.
Dads Magna= K&N filter, Mustang Seat, forward controls

Virago= K&N Filter, performance muffler

The Geo will soon have side-gapped plugs.

My Terc currently has side-gapped plugs, and I REALLY hope for a Weber sometime soon. I also intend to open up the head a bit and install a better exhaust.

Heh... My dads F-250 is a V-8 Turbo-diesel.
We should get the heads ported... Need to get more efficient intake plenums, the stock ones are shit (no intake manifolds on the Powerstroke 7.3L's)
Really need to get a bigger intercooler...
The 4 inch lift is on, and with 315/75R16's.
I personally think we need a 5 inch exhaust with an Aeroturbine muffler, but the 4 inch Bassani system (with 5 inch muffler) will work for now.

Don't try and compare a Cummins and a Powerstroke. They are different worlds entirely. Cummins is a Inline 6 cyl Medium Duty engine. The Powerstroke is a V-8 Light (if hauling 22,000 lbs is light) duty engine. In stock form in either the Dodge or Ford, they are very comperable for towing, for mileage, for power... But the Cummins can take a hell of a lot more beating than the Powerstroke. The Cummins is a 500,000 mile engine (but if babied and with a slightly upped exhaust and intake only is capable of hitting 1,000,000 miles) where the Powerstroke is a 300,000 mile engine (Though I did hear about one guy hitting 450,000 miles on his before the dying problems occured)
Along with that, that Cummins is a 24valve. That means 4 valves a cylinder. The 7.3L Powerstroke has 2 valves a cylinder. Doesn't leave much for flow. The T444E, or the Medium Duty near-twin brother of the Powerstroke (AKA the REAL 7.3L used by International), has 4 valves a cylinder, and is a 500,000 mile engine.

But I must say- Dodge trucks have CHEESY interiors where the Ford's are COMFORTABLE and WELL-THOUGHT. Not fold-out bench seat pieces of crap with 5 inches of leg room. Even the new Dodge Mega-Cab has crappy bench-style seats, though it has a bit of leg room. In all honesty, I am more comfortable in the back seat of my dads Ford Supercab than in the back of a Crew Cab Dodge.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add,

1982 Toyota Corolla Tercel (Gen 1 Tercel) 2-door. I think its an AL12. Powered by the same 3A-C as in our Wagons, but I personally think it feels like it has a great deal more power. It doesn't have Power Steering nor does it have A/C, so that may have something to do with it... Along with significantly reduced overall weight. It has a massive engine bay, with the same longitudinal (front-back) engine mounting pattern. It looks like you could drop a V-6 in there.

IIImoparIII, from my experience and from what I know, the Tercel is the superior of the other cars that you or your brothers own. The American cars you or your brothers have, I hate to say it, are P.O.S. Cheers! :) B) :D

how the hell did this end up being about ford diesels?

fords are actually pretty good if you maintain them, although maintenance costs on a ford are way higher than on a toyota.
