The owner claims it's original paint but the wheels were refinished.
His method? Frequent washing, rustproofing every year, plus his own comprehensive rustproofing process every few years.

Wow, pretty incredible !! I hope mine looks that good after a re-paint in the spring !! :)
1984 Tercel 4wd Dlx. - 192K miles.
1985 Tercel 4wd SR5 - 185K miles (not running)
1986 Tercel 4wd Dlx - 210K miles (dd)

Only 3 to go for the whole set ! lol

Looks like....in the 5th pic down...that he has some REAL STICKY tires on that car!

Did he say what type of undercoating he used? I can't see any rust......DARN!

Yes, and no rear differential either! It's a front wheel drive wagon.

The 2WD never existed here. I didn't know they were IRS.
Why did they change the escape route .............. ?

The oddest difference between the 2WD and 4WD wagons is the location of the fuel filler. On the 2WD it's on the left side, on the 4WD it's on the right, thus the difference in exhaust routings. It also means they have different quarter panels.

My 86 2WD wagon has 256k miles and original paint on all but 3 panels (left fender, and both right doors). It's a southern car, so it has almost no rust.
