So, you design vehicles for Nissan (Datsun as I call them since my bro owns a 'rival' Sentra)? And you now own this historic Tercel? If so that's neat. Have you been able to make much progress in the restoration?

Edit: feeling a little 'Deja-Vu', I looked and found the thread dedicated to your story and got the full story. Great stuff.

Hi Tercel People-

First post in a long time! Just thought I'd update the group and say that my little stored baby is moving in doors finally. Although it's been covered and in dry conditions (Prescott, AZ) for the past four years, I was notified that some kids recently took to throwing stones at it and broke the windshield.

If anyone has a windscreen they'd like to part with, or any other NOS parts for this eventual restoration, I'd be very interested. Now that he has his own little "apartment" I can store components along side him.

Warm regards to all!

Bryan

Bryan -
Yours is, truly, a heartwarming story.
I've cited it many times to my car-loving friends.

Thanks for the update Bryan. I looked around your site, the Volvo video was interesting! Liked the locomotives in the start too at the Welcome to Omaha sign. Going to have to find those in Street View.

aThese are really cool photos man.
That is cool you design vehicles for a living with Nissan. I have been eyeing up the new Nissan Micra since it looks to be great little point a-b car for under 10K brand new.

Any plans to work for Toyota and bring back our beloved wagons back into production?? :)

Thanks Tom! It's definitely a labor of love. One day it will move to the front burner again... One day.

Thanks much! I love doing design research work like that. Very inspiring to peek into someone else's world for a while.

Thanks! I had a blast at Nissan, and am grateful to the company for making my current freelance lifestyle possible. No plans in the works with Toyota, but I have been participating in a very fun show about car design. Here:

Hey guys. Thinking about this one, as a donor vehicle for my restoration

( https://tercel4wd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15 ... 161#p77161 )

Thoughts? Wait for a lower mileage version, or go for it?

TIA!

why do you need a donor car, what parts are you missing? If so get one that is not worth fixing (wrecked one or a rust bucket), not a nice running car. too many thoughtless people send these great little cars to the wrecker because they do not want to fix them, sometimes they do not even need that much to be repaired. Too many rip-off repairs shops padding their estimates with lists of parts that do not need to be replaced, so the owners just "just junk it", and we loose another one. Go to the auctions where they sell to the wrecking yards and a donor car that was wrecked.

Thanks Petros. I'll need a cherry one similar to this because most of the trim pieces (bumpers door insets headliner etc) are difficult to find in good condition and it's more cost effective to buy a complete car.

I could always just keep the donor car, but then it wouldn't be "the" Tercel.

Just finishing up a build of my Fiat 500c Abarth; in a similar manner, I purchased a pristine second car that had all the interior components I needed for my build.

Here's a link to the build thread: http://www.fiat500owners.com/forum/25-f ... build.html
