Newbie from the Philippines!

Post by jrpamn21 »

Hello to all, Newbie from the Philippines. My Tercel is not popular in this country, it was not manufactured here as mine was imported from the United States and so far i have seen one only as of this writing. It has 125,000+ miles on it and is in fairly good condition. Bought it from the husband of a former officemate of my wife, who was still sentimental about it but badly needed garage space. I am still in the process of fixing it up, and had mechanical and aesthetical problems(my hood paint chipped off and my windshield developed cracks).

I am still looking for an original windshield(although there is one locally made available here, but quite expensive) the cracks don't bother my vision, anyways.

Here is my ride, with a few exterior mods.

Welcome!
I would have thought the Philippines would have been a prime market for Toyota, due to the proximity of the countries.
Was this model just not brought in?

This model was not introduced in the country, it was those years the economy was not that good (1984-1986) and Toyota marketed only a few of their Corolla models and local consumers were a bit skeptical about the "New"Front Wheel driven cars.

The car has not been with me for the past 5 years unfortunately, but you can still see it around the Quezon City area being driven probably with its fifth owner. :) I have also seen another wagon in the area but with a different shade of gold.

In your last picture, your car looks lowered. How did you lower it?
