Did you replace that pcv valve? How difficult is it. I have oil in my air filter can too.
Re: Project #2 - 1985 SR5
Easy easy easy seantp, just pull it out of the top of the valve cover and swap. That said I haven't yet, been playing with other toys the last week or two

Get the rubber grommet that goes in the valve cover- I promise it'll break.
if it aint there, there's a good chance it won't break!

Hahah! I found it. This was my father’s car for about 15 years. The horn went out, so he bolted that horn to the master cylinder, and installed that white circular doorbell button in the center console to activate said horn. Have fun! That car was well cared for. It was sold as a trade in on 82nd in Portland a couple of years ago, because the clutch needed another replacement after only a year of use, and the fuel pump had gone out for a third time.BaileySims wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 7:04 am Are those horns bolted to the master cylinder? Haha. That's a real good find!

Well for a couple hundred bucks your Dad can have it back
Right now it's sitting in a barn in Silverton, OR. I was hopeful to get it ready in time for the Oregon Gambler 500 but it didn't happen. The owner between your dad and I left the sunroof ajar for like 1.5 years so it's got a delightful smell these days.

I may take you up on that, ha ha. I personally would love to work on a project car, but my dad doesn’t have the tools or the strength anymore, and I just don’t have the expertise. I would love to learn how to fix it up, if that something you’d be interested in? It would be great to do for the gambler next year too!

usually with the Tercel horn not working you can just add a shim under the metal strip beneath the steering wheel. that contacts the button when you press it. I used a yoghurt container plastic.

Re: Project #2 - 1985 SR5
sounds like someone messed up, those fuel pumps are very reliable and rarely fail, must have bought communist made replacement parts. Buy only Japanese or USA made parts. Also, I get about 100,000 miles per clutch (I am on my fourth one on my daily driver), to wear it out in a year it was either defective, or you need to teach your dad to drive without dragging the clutch.
sounds like you got bad luck, these cars are reliable and are very low maintenance. Parts are also low cost as well.
They are also easy to work on, do not be intimidated if you do not know how. We can walk you through it and you can learn how to maintain your own car, with our help.
