Does painting your valve cover make it easier to clean?

I love that white, but it wouldn't look that great with engine crud all over it.

Maybe a little easier from the smooth finish. But I have delt with some oil stains with white or cream colors previously. It was cracking and chipping too. I didn’t do a good paint job. This time I made sure the surface was clean before painting, and made sure the paint was a glossy and smooth finish.

@Andy
Glad to see the Tercel I sold you, Roberto as I called him, is getting some love. It's now belonged to four different forum members. I can't remember who OhCanada bought it from, then me.

Hey synth! Good to hear from ya. Too funny, keeping it in The tercel family. I keep seeing you around shoreline every now and then. I was working at a job site around there. I’ve actually seen quite a few Tercel’s in that part of town.

I’m having trouble with lifting the front. Looks like the struts are welded shut so I can’t put a new insert in. I may check out the Tercel at lynnwood pick n pull, and hopefully it has the strut housing the screws off. If not, you happen to have any? I’ll show a picture here

Here’s the problem. The part that holds the guts in is welded to the housing rather than it being able to screw/unscrew.

What's wrong with the strut right now?

I want to put mr2 strut inserts in because of the longer travel since I’m lifting. But I can’t do it now because of the type of strut housing I have.

@AndyG I have no extra stut housings. Didn'realize those weren't factory style serviceable housings.
I can account for owning at least of those tercels you saw. Silver with red hood? was owned by one guy on here and driven by another forum member on loan since I bought it.

@Synthdesign, I’ve seen a cream colored one at a mechanic shop, an old beat up white one a few times, silver, and then recently a (tan?) one racing around, and then you in your green one. Dont remember if the silver one had a red hood. Just funny how many I mostly see in that area between shoreline and northgate.
And yeah it sucks the serviceable housings aren’t on the market. I’m really hoping the one at lynnwood picknpull has the serviceable ones. If not, hopefully the one in Arlington does. Fingers crossed.
