I've got mine mounted towards the front. If I ever find a 4ac for the bit of extra power, I want to put on a full size basket that'll cover from front to back.

that looks so nice on there, makes it look like a rugged economini adventure wagon.

these have such under powered engines on there that any rack on the roof is noticeable, adds a lot of drag even when empty, except perhaps at nominal city driving speeds. Seems towards the back it would be a little less drag, but not my much.

Hell yes. I took mine off a few weeks ago just because, felt as if I were driving a new car. I went 85mph without even knowing it.

sounds like a great deal to me. one weekend to a new headgasket, a good sort out/tune up/clean up, and put in on the market to a worthy home. Turn a junker into something valueble and desirable, and make a few bucks in the process. You are doing something of value, adding value to an otherwise unwanted old econo car. If it cleans up nice, and it needs no other major repairs, you could sell it for more than $3000. (around here anyway).

You would have saved another one of these great little 4wd wagons from the crusher, well worth it.

I had posted about what looks like a second antenna hole on the driver's side of my 1985.

The below link is for an 85 currently for sale that has the same hole in the same spot, with what appears to be a toyota 4wd badge that fills the hole and sits on the fender! Strange...I wonder if that was their solution or a factory solution for a car with multiple antenna holes on the fenders.

That fender has definitely been replaced, body lines don’t line up and it wouldn’t have came that way from the factory. Only ‘83-‘84’s had the antenna on the drivers side all ‘85-‘88’s had it on the passenger side.

Also, that car has a center-mounted third brake light and rear wiper that parks in the up position (neither one of which was on an '85.) Either that car is an '86 or newer, or the tailgate has been swapped.
if it aint there, there's a good chance it won't break!

Contacted a photographer who was looking for a "classic" car to take pictures of a model leaning on for her portfolio. In exchange she took 64 model free pictures of my T4!
