Just finished welding in a panel to fill in a recessed license plate. Was trick in 1970, but now past its time. :) Body is ready to be pulled from the frame, body will go back on the roto - to start the paint process, which will be a long process.. :D

wow, nice engine.

I wonder what it would be like to get one of those engines in a Tercel4wd. that would be an interesting project, the whole drive train and suspension would have to be upgraded along with the engine.

My plans are to put a ‘96 LS 400 engine im my 1983 Tercel 4wd I bought from Texas, it won’t be 4WD anymore, just RWD. I bought a smasshed LS 400 and a smashed never winter driven California ‘84 Supra for the transmission and rear differential. Should be quite a little sleeper, leaving it all completely stock looking. I could put a small block Chev or Ford engine in it a lot easier but I want to keep it 100% Toyota. I know Petro, you’re going to say, “Don’t do that to a perfecly mint all original 4wd SR5 wagon”,but I just have too, it will still be COMPLETELY STOCK (Looking) I promise.

well, I would say if you can keep it 4wd, GO FOR IT. the 4wd feature is best thing about an otherwise common '80s econobox. More power and eliminating the carburatred engine is a big improvement. You will also find that with that much power and weight increase, you will also have to do some serious suspension upgrades. Bigger tires too, to keep all that power on the road. that might mean some cutting and welding of the fender wells to gain some room.

I will egarly await to see that transformation. find some way to keep the 4wd feature, perhaps adapt a 4wd truck transmission and front drive train, or find a way to shoe horn in an all-trac Camry drive train.

I plan on using the whole front suspension from the Supra, the part on the Tercel wher the front control arms bolt on are just spot welded on to the frame rails so once I remove them I can use the Supra cross member which has the control arms attached to it, granted there is going to be some massaging in some spot, but not that much. I have two parts cars that have to go to the scrap yard but I’m keeping the engine compartment off one of them, that way I’ll use it as a pattern so I don’t have to cut places and reweld the good Terc when I put the drivetrain in it.

After viewing the continuing efforts of both - I don't know which is the most impressive - Larry's or Bryan's ...
I am in awe of both, whether hands-on or self-driven.
