So its been a while since ive been on here, the car ran the 500 mile gambler and 700 miles to and from idaho without too much trouble

i'll go over a few of the mods i did before the gambler to prepare T for the journey.

had to replace the cam and crank seals. did the timing belt and water pump and new belts while i was in there for good measure.

Image

did a cat delete. if you can get away with it i definitely recommend it, noticeable difference in power.

Moving to the interior, i wanted a more comfortable matching color adjustable seat for this 1200 mile trip.

Got around to repairing and installing the Supra seats i scored. All the air pumps and adjustments still work, just had to fix the bolster.

had to teach my self to sew lol.

I found a 85 Celica GT and robbed its steering wheel for 10 bucks at the local pick and pull. looks waaaaaaaay better.

And Finally installed some Air shocks in the Back to keep the rear tires from rubbing. Very pleased with this mod

With a cooler full size spare and 100+ lbs of tools wood and junk in the trunk i had no rubbing in the rear.

Did some Off road Testing before the trip. car worked flawlessly through the mud.

The look on the face of the guy with a lifted jeep as you fly past him through the mud... priceless.

I also installed a Skidplate made out of UHMW plastic. My buddy made one for his wagon and i copied it.

Its about 1/4" thick, and took rocks and getting slid on quite well.

It saved my transmission from serious rock damage.

Our transmissions are made of aluminum if you plan on doing any semi-serious off roading i recommend protecting your front diff with some sort of skidplate.

no pics but here is a Youtube vid i made about it.

What tire size are you running? Those look like 15 inch rims.

@LowBuckCanuck

The tire size is a 215 70 r15. They are 15" Aluminum rims off a An Ford Escort GT, i have a set of those, and a two spares on wheels from a Saturn SW2

I have a set of 205 75r15 tires that will go on next. They are about a 1/4" taller at 27" and about 1/2" thinner.

How are they for rubbing?
I've got what looks like a similar lift to you with a 1 inch spacer in the front and the Monroe air shocks in the rear. Picked up some 15 inch civic mags and would like some better off road rubber.

215 70 15 No rub in the rear. Took off the flap on the inside front fender you can see in my brake pic and hammered back a few areas. it only rubs at full lock and even then not much or long.

Cool Tercel! Being jealous of the SR5 seats you guys got in the US, I've actually considered doing exactly what you did, find a nice set of Supra MK 2 seats in brown/tan for my Tercel. I never really investigated further, figuring I didn't need the hassle of fabricating mounting brackets.

But seeing your thread, I have to ask: what was involved in the install? I take it they don't bolt in directly using Supra brackets, but do Tercel brackets bolt to the underside of a stock Supra seat?

Thanks FRQ! Where are you from? My Sr5 seats were the wrong color (Tan) and completeley trashed.

The MK2 supra seat brackets actually do bolt in on the front, the width is the same as the Tercel.

I slotted the Bolt holes for the rear and used big washers to around the bolts to seat the rear as they come up about a 1/4" to short.
I'd snap a pic, but the car is in storage in another town at the moment.
