My 84 terk!
Re: My 84 terk!
I think Toyota calls for hot adjustment. Be sure to measure between the valve and rocker (NOT between the cam and rocker!)
if it aint there, there's a good chance it won't break!

Re: My 84 terk!
I have a manual that gives different measurements for doing it both hot, or cold. but doing it cold does not seem to work, it always results in the valves chattering. Not really harming anything but annoying.
I do it just as hot as I can stand working on it, (let a fully hot engine sit for about 10 to 15 min), than set to the factory specs, and it always runs quite.

Re: My 84 terk!
Good afternoon all. The results are in this morning as I started out to find they were off pretty bad .the head in this car is exceptionally clean as if the person had the car before me had a head job ...I'm assuming the re adjustment of the valves were improperly done at that point....any who I went ahead and tried cold via the Toyota service manual spec and the result was holy crap its a different beast ...very nice sowing machine I didn't know I had imma run it fore a while if it stays this way great if not I'll try for hot so I Guess's this is a problem solved thanks sooooo much for the resource
