Yeah this tank had black stuff and rust chunks all in it ...I guess the tank acquired a significant amount of moisture from the shop it was in for years would be my only guess but it was terrible Lol but its clean now the fuel is nice and clean in the filters

The price you were quoted is what I would pay in Canada for a new tank. I have been told they are not available new up here anymore, so I would grab that one. Can you get new tanks in the US?

Spectra of Quebec shows them and other fuel system parts in its e-catalog.
This link has my own VIN number, but it shows the parts: http://ecat.spectrapremium.com/a/23249
Additionally -
Advance shows it for USD230, incl. shipping to home: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/c3/fue ... efZC=63122
Autozone has it for USD224, also shipped to home: http://www.autozone.com/fuel-delivery/f ... l-2bl-sohc
I'd imagine O'Reilly and NAPA could get it as well.

How much is it in Canada?

Oops, brain fart. It is the tube assembly/ sending unit that is no longer available. It is only available for the FWD.

Wow - Yes, that is a good price! See my earlier post of Spectra tanks through Advance and AutoZone.
WHAT is your source? Post it in the Part Numbers - OE and Aftermarket Forum.

alqpskwod,

The linked manual will work fine, motor will be the same. Your listed valve clearance is correct. How bad is the valve noise?, these engines won't ever be as quiet as new vehicles.

Sounds louder than what I consider normal for an 80's Toyota as I've had a lot of 19,20,and 22r engines from that era as well as BMW which also sowing machine chatters but any who been along time since I've adjusted valves Lol or used this type of math ...I forgot how to read my feeler guage Lol so my biggest question is .18 mm the same as .018 thousandths and .28mm to .028 thou ect.... ? Also thanks for the timely response Chris.

Marlin is correct: there is 25.4 mm per inch. 0.18mm/25.4 mm/in= 0.00709"

what made you think 0.18mm is .000018"??? (.018 thou)

alq,

I've rebuilt a few engines, but it's been a lot of years. Your conversion would work IF feeler gauges were measured by thousandths of meters, which I have never seen (but I can't speak for what Metric adopting countries have done). Typical feeler gauges will provide measurements in the thousandths of an inch. Hence, the provided conversion from 0.18 mm to .007".

I prefer cold as it's easier and cleaner than working with a hot motor and trying to avoid oil leaking etc.
