i've got one on the way from daniel in reno nv so at this point i just band-aided it with some high temp silicone to seal it until that one arrives.
as for the leak it's either the roof rack or the top corner of the windshield, both of which will be getting a liberal coating of sealant once it's dry, which might be awhile so i'll need to get some marine adhesive that can be applied underwater.

after applying the high temp silicone it idles super high 4k and it has a really annoying whine to it as you can see in the video.

so i put the carb spacer in i recieved from dan it ran for a second at high idle again i'm sure it's vacuum lines and i noticed the fuel line might be a hair too big because it's leaking fuel at the carb, also might be causing the high idle.
my question is where does the black plug go that comes off the spacer? it connects to the heating element in said spacer but i don't know where it plugs into, there's a green plug that looks like it has the same layout as the black one and it fits but idk if that's the right spot. someone advise please?

leaking gas where the fuel line meets the carb will likely be the brass washer gaskets between the banjo bolt and fuel line. replace them.

If the other end of the plug mates to the spacer its right.
The plugs in the engine bay are not "interchangeable".
I belive the plug is part of the electric choke system.

I have to double check, but I thought I remember the black plug was the choke (and should mate with a matching color black connector), and the green one is emissions control system, that also connects to a matching color connector. You should have one of each in your model year, same as mine. look around, the correct one may be tucked in somewhere, hopefully not cut off. check the wire diagram for your model in the FSM.

the plug in question isn't for the choke, it's for the intake mixture warmer on the insulator i just don't see a black plug that's open. where it's leaking isn't the banjo fitting it's where the fuel hose connects to the hard line just before the banjo bolt. i'll look again in the next day or so as it was pretty cold by the time i got done installing the insulator. i was unable to find anything in the fsm but i surely will check again.

yes, that sounds correct: the green plug goes to control choke and fuel cut off solenoids (two of them), the black plug is for the base heater.
If you are not in icing conditions it does not need to be connected. The problem as I recall is the old base plate was broken and leaked vacuum. Even so, it should only be warming the base of the carb during start up and cold run, once the exhaust manifold heats the intake manifold it is not really necessary.

yes the old base plate was broken, or more correctly the heater element was removed and the hole tried to be sealed which didn't work. i'll leave the base unplugged and fix the fuel line seepage.
i did manage to track down the water leak into the cabin and hopefully the silicone dried enough to seal it up.

from what i can tell it's coming in from the roof rack that was bolted through roof and headliner.

well now i can't get the damn thing to idle. the vac lines are run properly and i only need to replace a couple for pinhole leaks and the fuel return line. i can't for the life of me figure out why it won't idle. unless maybe timing is wrong. it's backfiring a bit too because of the exhaust manifold crack.

back firing is a good indication the timing is off. A cracked ex manifold would not cause back firing.
